A few weeks ago, we went to discover an Italian restaurant that delighted our taste buds, and we wanted to tell you all about it.
Just a stone’s throw from Rue du Bac and Le Bon Marché, and opposite the Italian Embassy, Sylvain Lindon (brother of actor Vincent Lindon) and his wife Marie welcome diners as if they were in their own home, with a constant concern to always put the customer first, and a simple idea at the root of this adventure: taste above all else and respect for tradition to offer an Italian-style menu (antipasti, primo piatto, secondo) and a selective choice of authentic, high-quality products in keeping with the seasons.
Al Dente has recently overhauled not only its decor, but also its menu for even greater pleasure. A new gourmet and inventive menu that smells of Italy. Elio, the talented chef from Puglia, has built the restaurant’s reputation over the past 9 years by offering the best of Italian cuisine (carpaccio, meat, fish, pizza and, of course, pasta “al dente”), some of which have even become “classics” of the place, such as the scallop carpaccio, the Linguine with squid & poutargue (excellent), Trofie with green asparagus and lime or Tagliata of beef fillet served with arugula and Parmesan shavings, as is the Italian tradition.
With the new formula, the chef also offers suggestions on the slate, which change each month to reflect the seasonal nature of the produce. There’s a choice of 2 starters, 2
pasta dishes, a meat dish and a fish dish, not forgetting the risotto served every Thursday, inspired by the chef’s specialties. Not to be missed!
The pizzas, which can be enjoyed on the premises or at home, live up to Al Dente’s reputation: thin, airy and crisp.
As for the desserts, they are all homemade, except for the artisanal ice creams from the Pozzetto house and the gourmet coffee, prepared by PATISSERIE DES REVES and renamed “Café des Rêves”.
Finally, as far as the cellar is concerned, the chef has chosen a fine selection of exclusively Italian wines to accompany his menu.
With these new features, and after almost 10 years of unwavering success, Al Dente is more than ever a renowned address, a must for Italian-loving gourmets, politicians from nearby ministries, Left Bank shopping addicts and the families and celebrities who live or frequent the area: Claire Chazal, Marc Olivier Fogiel, Pierre Lescure, Audrey Tautou, Vincent Lindon, Christian Clavier, Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars, Marie Drucker, Christine and Olivier Orban, François Bayrou, Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, Alain Finkielkraut, Omar Sy and Fred Testot, Anne Sophie Lapix and many more…
