Christie’s is organizing the upcoming auction of the “Vivid Blue” diamond, the world’s largest blue diamond with no inclusions. Weighing 13.22 carats, this extraordinary stone is the star lot of Christie’s sale, which will take place in Geneva on May 14, 2014 at the Hotel des Bergues – Four Seasons.
Just six months ago, Christie’s Geneva sold the Orange Diamond, the world’s largest vivid orange diamond, which fetched $35.5 million, a world record for a diamond of this color and a world record for a price per carat: $2.4 million. The “Vivid Blue” diamond, estimated at between $21 and $25 million, dominated this major sale, comprising 250 lots and with an overall estimate of around $80 million.
The sale will also feature other white and colored diamonds, as well as jewelry, such as The Ocean Dream diamond, weighing 5.50 carats, the world’s largest fancy vivid blue-green diamond on the auction market, estimated at between $7.5 and $9.5 million. Its size, natural origin, hue and saturated color make this diamond an exception.
The Light Pink cushion diamond weighing 76.51 carats and mounted as a necklace by Leviev is also among the rare diamonds featured in this sale. An unset pear-shaped diamond weighing approximately 75.97 carats (D color, F clarity, type IIA), estimated at between $13.5 and $15.5 million, will be the most important white diamond in the May 14 sale.
A not-to-be-missed event for collectors and lovers of precious stones!
