The world tour continues for Ralph Lauren’s giant version of the Ricky Bag. After stopping off in New York and Tokyo, it’s time for Paris to welcome this incredible piece. To be admired from March 31 to April 12 in the ephemeral Ralph Lauren boutique, set up for the event at Galeries Lafayette. Also available is a limited edition of the Soft Ricky Bag, created especially for the occasion.
The story of the It Bag,
Created in 2005 by Ralph Lauren, the Ricky bag pays tribute to the American designer’s wife, after whom it is named. It became an emblematic piece for the American house, and in 2013 was adapted by the Parisian concept store Colette, which reduced its size and renamed it “Soft Ricky”.
To celebrate the undisputed success of the original version, last September Ralph Lauren embarked on a spectacular world tour, exhibiting an “XXL” version of the Ricky Bag in some of the world’s greatest capitals. Disproportionately large, the piece is 100 times the size of the classic model, measuring 1.80m high and 1.50m wide, with a total weight of 100 kilos. The work required 1 month of labor and 4 full-time employees.
For obvious reasons, the titanic bag is not being marketed, but is the highlight of the launch of a very limited edition of the Soft Ricky Bag, available exclusively during the two-week show in the Ralph Lauren Pop-up store at Galeries Lafayette.
