DSCN3431Natali Krpan, founder of Zlarine and of Franco-Croatian origin, launches her new collection of 925 silver filigree jewelry from Balkan craftsmanship in February 2014.For the 3rd year, the young Zlarine brand unveils a series of limited edition jewelry pieces. Some intricate jewelry pieces are even made in a single unique piece, like the Tubes bracelet, which can require up to 15 hours of work by “silver weavers” artisans on the Dalmatian coast.

In 2014, Natali Krpan designed and selected several models featuring Adriatic red coral, freshwater pearls and other hard stones, which, combined with silver, are the perfect complement to the warm colors of summer.

The world of Zlarine was born of its founder’s desire to perpetuate the distinctive skills of Balkan jewelers, and to forge ties with them based on trust and quality. The jewelry offered by Zlarine, composed of innumerable microscopic elements in the form of lamellas, wires or spheres, fascinates by the finesse and modernity of its ornamental details.

Inspired in part by Etruscan art, the meticulous workmanship of silver filigree enables the creation of jewels that are both powerful and delicate, like veritable talismans. Fragments of wire welded together can form the structure of the jewel itself, but can also be used to make ornaments for ornaments, such as openwork spheres and domes, or openwork pendants. Often, the filigree pattern is soldered onto a plate or ball, forming the ornamentation. This technique produces an “embroidery” effect. This meticulous process produces jewels of precious material, finesse and transparency. Granulation involves soldering tiny grains of gold or silver onto a metal element, almost invisibly to the naked eye. There are two methods for producing these grains or granules. The first: tiny fragments of gold or silver are melted in burning charcoal dust. The second: granules are produced by spraying molten metal into water. These grains are then applied with brushes and glue, and finally soldered in place.

Each piece of Zlarine jewelry bears the 925 hallmark, a guarantee of top-quality, non-allergenic silver. All also bear the responsibility hallmark approved by the Saumur guarantee office: a trident surrounded by the initials “STE” and “Z”. And for coins over 30g, the State guarantee hallmark is also affixed.
