Paul Smith takes us on a journey to the land of rock and psychedelia for this Fall Winter 2014-2015 collection. We encounter the ghosts of Jim Morrison, whiffs of hashish, woodstock madness and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
The silhouettes are ample, the prints psychedelic, and the colors sunny. Fabrics look as if they’ve stepped out of a souk, stolen from oriental carpets, and trompe l’oeil prints take us on a journey with them. Music is never far away, with musical jacquards.
Cashmere sweaters have an ample cut, while ponchos remind us of the extravagance and multiple influences of this period. We note the mix of suit and sweater, rather than shirt, for a more casual look.
The apparent nostalgia of this collection almost makes us forget the innovative materials used.
Patterns include camels, monkeys, sunsets, pink flamingos and palm trees. The tone is joyful.
A happy, musical and relaxed collection.
