Ian Schrager’s latest project, The London EDITION, recently opened in London. We were able to test this new hotel concept for you, much to our delight.
Returning to London for the first time in 15 years, since the presentation of Sanderson and St Martins Lane, the hotel is the latest addition to the Edition chain, the brand conceived by Ian Schrager, pioneer of the boutique hotel concept in partnership with Marriott International. Edition aims to be a trendy, arty alternative to the classic hotel.

This delicate balancing act embraces design and true innovation, but also friendly, personal service that is modern as well as remarkable, all “under one roof”.
As with all EDITION hotels, each is a cultural epicenter and a microcosm of the best the city has to offer. Each is a portal to the very essence of the city. The London EDITION retains the finest historical aspects of the building-formerly the Berners Hotel-but reinvents the interior spaces to create a dynamic fusion of old and new, past and present. It’s a place of life, where the central bar is always full and comes alive at the end of the day, bringing the whole hotel to life. For the party-goers, the Basement is the place to be, with its nightclub in the hotel’s basement offering London’s most cutting-edge sound and attracting Londoners every night.
The hotel is inspired by the great traditions of Great Britain: the aristocratic English manor house and the quintessence of traditional private clubs blended with a modern urban ambience. When these diametrically opposed aesthetics meet, they create an alchemy, a spark for a rather surprising result.
Behind its Georgian facade lie majestic public areas, two bars, a 24-hour fitness center and 173 wooden rooms and suites similar to the cabins of a private yacht, intimate and luxurious.
