Karl Lagerfeld’s latest film, “The Return”, premiered at yesterday’s Métiers d’Art show in Dallas. Starring Gérardine Chaplin (Charlie’s daughter) as Mademoiselle, Lagerfeld plunges us into the reopening of Gabrielle Chanel’s Paris couture house in 1954. Here’s the film:
To watch the film, Karl Lagerfeld had decided to seat his guests in a drive-in cinema, and it’s quite funny to see Anna Wintour beside the Kaiser in the back of a convertible. Then came the fashion show, with its distinctly American Dallas countryside feel. Métiers d’Art collections are always an opportunity for Karl Lagerfeld to draw inspiration from a country and incorporate Chanel codes in a spectacular way.
