On a wintry afternoon, George Chakra invites us to its Spring Garden Party for the presentation of its Spring-Summer 2011 Couture Collection.
The models wore sexy, feminine dresses that perfectly reflected the curves of a modern, fulfilled woman. We find the Lebanese couturier in a style he is particularly fond of: ceremonial or cocktail dresses.
Inspired by the plant world, the Lebanese couturier brings us a parterre of sunny, glamorous dresses in luminous hues. Spectacular floral and plant prints adorn silhouettes full of fruity freshness and sensuality.
The dresses are presented in a palette of leaked colors. Spicy pastels coexist with coral, melon, peach and apricot. Spring-like greens become increasingly aquatic.
Iridescent white reflections, set against the sky’s vault, seem to come straight from the clouds, barely illuminated by touches of dark midnight blue.
The silhouette is caressed and sheathed, and feminine forms are exalted in a flight of short and long dresses for this summer. Drapery sublimates the silhouette, the waist is emphasized rather than marked, and asymmetry is the order of the day.
Corolla décolletés, climbing ruffles, raised petals, swirls of leaves, clouds of tulle, blossoms of embroidery, scents of feathers, dew-like showers of glitter enhance gowns perfect for grand ceremonies. When the designer abandons his taste for the accumulation of various ornaments (feathers on ruffles, for example), the lines become more refined and the collection rhymes with lightness, femininity and romance.
Georges Chakra is a master at sculpting the female body with his creations. To bring structure and volume to his dresses, the Lebanese designer uses Gazar. The gait is accentuated and enhanced. Duchess satin, organza, guipure and tulle wrap women in a veil of glamour, lightness and softness.
Some silhouettes seem inspired by the fairy tale Peau D’âne. Here, a shimmering gown offers a fabulous example of a moon-colored dress, while another could in some places be the color of the sun.
Georges Chakra has imagined true tributes to nature. Others are more graphic, delicately adorned with hand-painted stripes.
The wedding gown, a subtle alliance of airy tulle and flower embroidery, sums up this very springtime collection: a veritable bouquet of flowers offered by George Chakra to sublimate us.
