Clearly inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece Dracula, designer Eva Minge’s Spring-Summer 2011 Couture Collection features the silhouettes of vampire heroines with heightened sensuality.
To the sound of the film’s original soundtrack and in an eerie atmosphere, the “Ladies of Darkness” prefer black, barely warmed by blood-red, and hint at their mysterious nature through clever cut-outs.
With a collection composed entirely of red and black, Eva Minge transports us into a phantasmagorical world, where the woman beneath her tulle pieces and embroidery encrusted with crystals and ruby rhinestones is baroque and mysterious.
Tulle in all its forms (honeycomb, stretch, gathered, falbalas, sequined or embroidered) remains her favorite material, which she doesn’t hesitate to combine with silk or other more technical materials.
Then comes the moment of passion. Red dominates, but is always accompanied by a hint of black. Our heroine becomes more seductive. Dresses become increasingly sheath-like, revealing a perfect body. A few feathers complete the picture.
The shadow of the famous Count appears in top hat, small dark glasses and structured jacket.
In the apotheosis, the wedding dress signals a return to virginity in alabaster tulle.
For this Spring/Summer 2011 season, Eva Minge has created a gothic-rock atmosphere in red and black. The designer’s hot couture is provocative and sensual, with baroque accents.
