Iced tea is becoming a summer staple at Dammann Frères

Iced tea has long held a paradoxical position in France. Highly visible in the beverage industry but much less so in tea culture, it has often been treated as a seasonal product, more about refreshment than flavor. The appeal of Dammann Frères’ new iced tea creations lies precisely in this: the company isn’t content to simply add three recipes to a summer market segment. Instead, it seeks to integrate iced tea consumption into its own vocabulary—that is, into a culture centered on the art of preparation, infusion, and blending.

Founded in 1825 and certified as a “Living Heritage Company,” Dammann Frères has no need to overemphasize its history. Its challenge lies elsewhere: to show that a heritage brand can remain relevant today without succumbing to convenience. The summer of 2026 presents a simple yet demanding challenge. How can the tea’s precision be preserved when the season calls for speed, pre-brewed liters, ice cubes, and on-the-go convenience? The answer comes in the form of three new creations: Citrons, Touareg, and Exotic.

The merit of this product lies first and foremost in its method. Dammann Frères provides clear instructions for use: one tea bag, one liter of hot water, a few minutes of steeping, then cooling and adding ice cubes. This simplicity is no mere detail. It positions iced tea as a well-mastered home practice, far removed from standardized ready-to-drink beverages. Freshness is no longer the result of a factory-formulated drink; it becomes the culmination of a minimal yet deliberate preparation.

The first creation, Citrons, features a very distinct profile. On a base of black tea, lemon and lime essential oils provide a lively opening before orange peel and flower petals round out the profile. What’s most interesting isn’t the fragrance’s expected summery character, but its balance. Dammann Frères doesn’t overdo the tartness; the House has crafted a bright, well-structured black tea that retains its body while gaining freshness.

As for Touareg, it reimagines a familiar classic for a new purpose. The blend of Gunpowder green tea, spearmint, and peppermint is already one of the House’s most recognizable creations. The transition to an iced version is therefore not an invention from scratch, but a reinterpretation. It is this shift that matters. A heritage classic moves beyond the realm of hot beverages and traditional service to embrace a more on-the-go, everyday way of enjoying it, while retaining what makes it distinctive: the tension between enveloping sweetness and striking freshness.

Exotic rounds out the collection with a richer, more indulgent flavor profile. Passion fruit, coconut, pineapple, mango, and lime come together here on a base of black tea. The flavor profile is more pronounced without becoming heavy. There is a clear intention behind this recipe: to give iced tea a sense of hospitality—almost a spirit of sharing—by opening it up to a world of ripe fruit and generosity.

The dossier presents these three creations as an extension of an existing collection of eleven iced herbal teas. This information is important because it shows that this is not a one-off attempt. Dammann Frères is gradually building a standalone seasonal line, complete with its own uses, vocabulary, and even accessories. The Travel pouch collection has been expanded with new colors; the Sunrise pouch contains eight flavors in sixteen pre-measured Cristal tea bags, each designed to make one liter; insulated bottles and water bottles extend the experience on the go. In other words, the company isn’t just adding recipes. It’s curating a portable summer ritual.

We’ll still need to clarify what the press release leaves out: the exact price of each product, their precise weight, detailed availability by sales channel, and the breakdown of flavors in the on-the-go assortments. But the essentials are already there. With Citrons, Touareg, and Exotic, Dammann Frères isn’t just following the summer trend. The company is redefining the very concept of seasonal herbal tea.
