As a continuation of the men’s collection presented in Paris last month, Thom Browne returns to the idea of a mourning ceremony reinterpreted in a warm, poetic way. Black is the order of the day, but the designer manages to show the details and different facets of the luxurious materials his own studio develops. Magnificent black dresses follow the curves of the body, bare at the shoulders and adorned with embroidery woven on gazar, organza, organdi and silk satin. Proportions, superimpositions and zips are the order of the day, as are whalebones – found in patterns and also in the shape of bags – which, according to the designer, are there to add a touch of “humor” and soften the atmosphere. Note the superb hats and veils designed by Stephen Jones.
