THE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 360 INSPIRED BY THE LIFE OF KIM JONES
” I grew up in Africa, and I’ve always admired the power of animals,” says designer Kim Jones, who followed her hydrogeologist father to Kenya and Botswana during his youth. In the same way, he also developed an interest in speed. ” The cheetah is the fastest land animal, so it’s only natural that I chose it as my inspiration,” he says. Using the feline as a starting point, Kim Jones drew on her personal history – including childhood travels and a typical London punk attitude – to create a Mercurial Superfly 360 in animal print, designed to catch all eyes on the field.

The shoe also speaks to Jones’ belief in the power of sport, and his overall interest in innovative materials and textiles.
” Football gives young people a common goal, and allows them to be part of the community, to be connected to the rest of their community, in a real way on the field and not just on the internet. ”
The opportunity to use innovative technologies, such as Nike’s next generation Flyknit, also encouraged Kim to work on a sports product. “Innovation in textiles and materials starts with performance,” he explains. “The main goal is to make highly functional objects that people want to own and wear. ”
The Mercurial Superfly 360 x Kim Jones will be unveiled on the field in Paris on March 6. For the occasion, the shoe will be available exclusively in the Nike Store on the Champs Elysees in Paris and on nike.com halfway through the game.
