DIOR HOMME’S CREATIVE FORCE MEETS A NEW VISUAL UNIVERSE: KRIS VAN ASSCHE, THE HOUSE’S ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, HAS CALLED ON BRITISH PHOTOGRAPHER DAVID SIMS AND STYLIST MAURICIO NARDI TO INTERPRET THE WINTER 2017/18 CAMPAIGN. ON THE OCCASION OF KRIS VAN ASSCHE’S TENTH ANNIVERSARY WITH DIOR HOMME, THIS COLLABORATION MARKS A RADICAL STEP FORWARD IN HIS OVERALL VISION FOR THE HOUSE.
TO HIGHLIGHT THE CREATIVE, MULTI-FACETED PERSONALITY OF THE DIOR HOMME MAN AND THE DUALITY ESSENTIAL TO THE SPIRIT OF THE HOUSE, THE CAMPAIGN CHOOSES TO CREATE A CONTRASTING EFFECT WITH DIPTYCH VISUALS PRESENTING THE SEASON’S NEW FACES. AMERICAN ACTOR LUCAS HEDGES AND DAVE GAHAN, LEADER OF THE DEPECHE MODE GROUP, JOIN FRENCH MODEL DYLAN ROQUES AND BELGIAN NEW FACE CHRISTOPHE T KINT TO PROPOSE A PALETTE OF TALENTS FROM FASHION, MUSIC AND CINEMA. AT THE CROSSROADS OF UNIVERSES AND GENERATIONS, THEY REPRESENT A STYLISTIC EVOLUTION THAT FOLLOWS DIOR HOMME’S TRAJECTORY FROM CLASSICISM TO A MORE CONTEMPORARY STYLE.


IN ONE SET, LINES OF HARDIOR SCOTCH TAPE DESIGNED FOR THE WINTER 2017/18 SHOW FORM A GRAPHIC BACKDROP FOR CLOSE-UP AND FULL-LENGTH PORTRAITS, HIGHLIGHTING THE SEASON’S TAILORING, BETWEEN TENNIS STRIPES AND DECONSTRUCTED SILHOUETTES, WORN WITH METALLIC DETAILS AND RUBBER-SOLED SNEAKERS. A SECOND SERIES OF IMAGES MIXES ELEMENTS OF THE BOURGEOISIE OF YESTERYEAR WITH THE PURE ENERGY OF YOUTH, ACCENTUATED BY DAVID SIMS’ SIGNATURE VISUAL PLAY OF LIGHT AND SHADOW. THE COLLECTION’S STRONG FASHION MESSAGE IS UNDERLINED BY A CHOICE OF VERY GRAPHIC LOOKS: COLLEGE-INSPIRED JACKETS, WIDE-LEG PANTS AND INTARSIA KNITS ADORNED WITH SLOGANS SUCH AS “THERE WILL BE NOISE COMPLAINTS” OR “THEY SHOULD JUST LET US RAVE”.
