At Marni, print makes the show.At Marni, print makes the show. Yet the show began with monochrome tones of white, ecru and black. Materials are also at the heart of Consuelo Castiglioni’s work: raw, natural, as if cut from the bone, just sculpted on the body and held in place by wide karate belts. A sense of serenity emanates from these refined outfits in linen and cotton canvas, before prints make an eye-catching appearance in the form of colorful floral motifs and rich fabrics (wild silk, jacquard), as well as numerous embroideries in jet pearls, crystal and mirrored pastilles, or ruching in muslin and raffia, recreating 3D flowers that embellish the garment. Flowers can also be found painted on rigid leather, because here, all materials have staying power. On the feet of the top models are hybrid shoes, half jogging shoes, half sandals with notched soles. A collection that celebrates the label’s 20th anniversary, and proves that Marni occupies a prominent place in Milan fashion week.
