The second line from Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna, ZZegna, deserves at least as much attention as its predecessor. With Paul Surridge as creative director, this range is poetic and detailed, making it worthy of our full attention.
Inspired by the calm simplicity of Japanese gardens, the Spring/Summer 2014 collection is modest yet elegant. Paul Surridge’s choice this season is to take us on a whirlwind of square cuts and subtle pastels blending with dark hues. Asian inspiration is especially evident in the shoes, the famous masculine sandals with metallic accents.
Paul Surridge plays with shapes, notably the pentagonal pattern found on jacquard jackets, and isn’t afraid to experiment. Lengths and layering are at the heart of this collection.
A dose of mixed materials, prints, pure whites mixed with darker shades reminiscent of pebbles, the designer behind the ZZegna range knows his way around men’s fashion.
Botond Cseke, Sam Maouchi, Nemanja Maksic, Dylan River, Alexander Ferrario, Justin Sterling, Félix Riess, Lewis Conlon, Abiah Hostvedt, Anders Haywards, Ben Allen, Luuk Van Os and Jester White were the young men embodying the Spring/Summer 2014 collection at ZZegna.
