Love Minnie

LOVE, one of the world’s most influential fashion magazines, reveals that Minnie will be featured on the cover of The Sweetie Issue to mark the magazine’s^5th anniversary. Minnie, an icon of the Disney universe, is the first cartoon character to appear on the cover of LOVE. Inspired by Minnie’s iconic, playful and colorful style, LOVE editor-in-chief Katie Grand asked her to make her debut as a model for a magazine cover, posing alongside internationally renowned supermodels, photographed with Minnie ears specially created by leading fashion names.

Minnie will be on the cover of the July 29, 2013 issue, along with five world-famous supermodels: Edie Campbell, Cara Delevigne, Georgia May Jagger, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Chiharu Okungi. The magazine asked Gucci, Loewe, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Jake and Dinos Chapman for Louis Vuitton to come up with an interpretation of Minnie’s ears and bow, with designs created especially for the occasion.

“When we started working on this project, the famous photo of Madonna by Herb Ritts popped up on my Instagram, the one where the singer is in bed with Minnie ears,” explains editor-in-chief Katie Grand. “I was inspired by this wise yet authentic and adorable look. I’ve always been a fan of Minnie’s style, with her bow and polka-dot dress. So we had my favorite supermodels pose with Minnie ears created by Miu Miu and Jake and Dinos Chapman for Louis Vuitton, among others. But that wasn’t enough, we also had to get Minnie to pose in person.”

To accompany the release of The Sweetie Issue, a fun, interactive application will be available on iTunes, and the LOVE magazine website will feature Katie Grand’s interpretation of Minnie’s world.
