ALEXANDRE VAUTHIER Winter 2014 Couture with Swarovski

The House of Swarovski, specialized in the design and production of crystals, is as dazzling as it is discreet. With its finger on the pulse of every fashion and couturier, accustomed to making dresses and necklines sparkle, the company rarely talks about its longevity.
Swarovski has extended its activities to all fashion industries, from ready-to-wear to jewelry, but it is in the rare and noble discipline of Haute Couture that the company has revealed itself. It shares with it more than a century of complicity, crossed by fads, tricks and famous labels, all of which have assiduously solicited crystal for pageantry and embroidery. Since the end of the 19th century, Swarovski has been an official and legitimate supplier to the craftsmen, from embroiderers to couturiers, who are said to foster dreams, and has contributed fully to the magic of which this exclusively French industry is definitely the sublime expression.
This year, Swarovski accompanied Alexandre Vauthier for his Couture collection.

Meet the designer:

What are you most excited and amazed by in this new AH 2013 collection?
As always, preparing a new show and telling a new story.
Every season, I try to go one step further with my team and partners, creating a new concept that always takes up the brand’s DNA and allure.

What were your inspirations and how did you integrate Swarovski crystals into your silhouettes for this collection?

Swarovski crystals are really part of my DNA. My embroideries are extremely recognizable, and Swarovski crystals symbolize this signature. This season, I’m presenting a new range of colors in the show, and a more than icy-scented spirit emanates from these embroideries.

Among your creations, is there a look you’re most proud of and why?

Of course, all the embroidered pieces! From the outset, I have combined the quality of Swarovski crystals with the excellence of Lesage and the expertise of Goossens. This season’s finale is an introspection of all these exchanges and collaborations. It brings together all the “Métiers d’Art” I work with (Lemarié, Lesage, Goossens) and, of course, Swarovski!

For more than a decade, Swarovski has supported designers who have embraced crystal as a creative material – what do you think of the role the House of Swarovski plays in the fashion industry, and why is it so important?

They’ve always supported me from the start. They are keen to encourage young talent. Passionate, curious and responsive, Swarovski allows each designer to express his or her own creative ideas, which is real support and undoubtedly an added value.

What are your new challenges and upcoming projects?

There are so many of them! But I promise, you’ll discover them soon…
