Sandra Mansour

I’d like to talk to you today about a new designer. Sandra Mansour was born and raised in Switzerland and has Lebanese roots. A subtle blend of Western elegance and Eastern beauty. So when we talk about Lebanese designers, we inevitably talk about Elie Saab. And that’s just as well, given that the young designer cut her teeth with him and gained first-rate knowledge.

Constrast: that’s the theme of Sandra Mansour’s autumn/winter 2013/2014 collection. Transoarences and opacities, feminine and masculine, clarity and obscurity, the designer plays on oxymorons in her garments and embroidery, and there’s no shortage of brocades.

All the poetry of Lebanese fashion blends with the modernity of Western silhouettes for an elegant result that echoes the shapes of the 80s.
