Nicolas Formichetti has chosen to go against the grain of men’s fashion trends to date. With natural colors the trend for the coming season, Mugler ‘s electrifying, electric looks stand out from the ordinary.
Grey and black are of course present, but the designer doesn’t shy away from flashy hues, reminiscent of the fluo kids period. Impeccable geometry and sharp looks, these are futuristic or retro-futuristic garments evoking military or astronaut outfits. Fabrics are nonetheless soft, and there’s no excessive eccentricity in their choice. Consistent but controlled volumes lend a dramatic effect to the outfits.
Mugler revisits even the most classic outfits, giving them a touch of pep and pop with bright, fluorescent colors in total look or color-block.
It’s a collection where the notions of space-time, but also space and time, are in the spotlight, with many nods to the sciences (fractal motifs, geometric shapes such as the triangle).
