One of the first shows to be staged during this men’s fashion week was that of ANDAM award-winning designer Julien David. And it was with great sobriety and humility that the designer chose to express his vision of menswear.
In a style reminiscent of the hipsters of Brooklyn and Paris, Julien David offers us a relaxed version of menswear.
And here’s how the principal presents his collection:
“Often menswear can be too classic or too dark and dramatic. My aim is to take some streetwear references and inject them in the right places in the designs, trying to find the right balance and create special, relevant pieces. I’ve called this collection ‘Don’t Be Cruel’.”
So there’s no great ostentation in the color palette: black and gray are omnipresent, a guarantee of casual, assertive chic. Tartans and horizontal stripes are also the order of the day for Julien David, who clearly prefers to revisit menswear classics while adding his own personal touch, a fresh touch and delicate surprises, particularly in terms of shapes and materials, thus embodying a style where technique is in fact the true proof of talent.
