Offbeat Orientalism by Pascal Millet
One might have expected the worst from a collection whose title was the famous Clash song “Rock THE Casbah”. Indeed, many designers have sought to draw inspiration from the oriental trend, and very few have escaped without a scratch.
Pascal Millet with his Spring Summer 2013 collection is one of those exceptions.
The colors and textures of Tangier’s alleyways form the basis of this creation. The color palette, however, is more colorful than white, as the Tangier influence might suggest, consisting mainly of black, beige, camel, metallic gray, gold and ochre.
Pants worn with wide vests for a bohemian/negligee look, or with a shirt closer to the body for a smarter result. The surprising presence of leather.
The designer bewitches us with his evening gowns with interesting volumes and his jumpsuits/djellabas.
Special mention to the black lamé shirt paired with a long, full-length black silk skirt.
