Gustavo Lins’ objective for the 018 collection is to refine the men’s wardrobe to meet the needs of the elegant man. He has chosen from among a number of his previously created model-pha- res, to drastically revise all the finishes and uses of each garment, eliminating the superfluous, deepening wearer comfort and practical finishes.
This revised corpus is rigorously composed: a very constructed overcoat cut in double-crepe, another more sporty one in reversible wool in cotton poplin, a third more am- ple called “Couverture” in cashmere. A classic jacket with shaped shoulders, with an evening tuxedo version in leather satin, and another cardigan-style model with dropped shoulders. For a sporty look, a short leather pea coat warmed by cashmere. Two shirts, one with a tie collar, the other with a high collar. A pair of straight pants with no side seams, cut from partridge-eye woven cotton, another with a spiral waistband and a very close-fitting leg, and a third with a fuller leg and a “poi- gnard” pleat at the front. The color range is fairly strict, in black, deep blue, light gray or slate gray, but it’s the knitwear pieces that liven up the palette, with spiral cardigans in inky blue, chalky white or blood red, and sweaters in large polka-dot patterns. An ultra-luxe jogging suit completes the wardrobe, in knitted jersey knit with ribbing at the bottom, affirming the sporty spirit of the entire collection, while allowing for mixing with the more structured tailoring pieces.
Leather underlining is now mostly reduced to the foot of the collar, piping and sleeve cuffs. The result is a set of garments that are immediately seductive and comforting, easy to wear for day or evening, and easy to mix and match. Limpi- des pieces with great attention to detail, revitalizing the classic wardrobe of the cosmopolitan city-dweller.
