Burberry Eyewear launch party

Last week, Burberry invited us to a party to celebrate the launch of its Summer 2012 aviator eyewear. As I arrived in front of the Burberry boutique at 56 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, a greeter asked for my name on a digital list on an IPad. How modern! Once checked in, I enter the already packed boutique. We grab a cup as we go, then wander around the Flagship. The lower and upper floors are less crowded, allowing us to catch our breath and admire this sublime boutique. A stage had been set up inside the boutique for a private concert by the English band One Night Only.

The event is part of a series of live performances by British musicians organized by the brand on May 3 and 4. The four bands, selected and directed by Burberry Managing Director Christopher Bailey, are One Night Only, The Daydream Club, Marika Hackman and Life in Film. Each performance took place at events in Burberry stores in Paris, Milan, New York and Sydney, continuing the brand’s involvement in promoting and supporting young British talent around the world. Guests included Clotilde Courau, Yelle, Hande Kodja and Lucie Lucas, all dressed by Burberry.

One Night Only recorded an exclusive track for Burberry entitled “Long Time Coming”, accompanied by a video filmed on stage in London and released on all Burberry digital platforms. The track was released as a single on May 3 to coincide with the event. It is available via iTunes and a selection of music sites. The group’s stay in Paris was filmed and will soon be unveiled exclusively on Burberry platforms, forming the subject of a new experience on burberry.com and on social networks. The campaign features a collection of timeless, unisex, aviator-style eyewear inspired by the spirit, attitude and energy of Burberry, British music and summer. The campaign will continue to evolve through dynamic online and offline communication throughout the summer and across all Burberry platforms including Burberry.com, You Tube, Facebook, Sina Weibo, Youku and Twitter.
Burberry eyewear is available on Burberry.com, in Burberry boutiques and selected points of sale worldwide.
