HOYA CORPORATION PENTAX Imaging Systems announces the forthcoming launch of a new camera concept: the PENTAX Q, a compact interchangeable lens camera with a sleek, elegant design. Thanks to its expertise in miniaturization, PENTAX has been able to develop an extremely compact, lightweight camera and optics. The PENTAX Q is currently the world’s smallest digital camera with interchangeable lenses, with a body thickness of just 3.1cm. What’s more, thanks to years of experience in SLR development, PENTAX has given its PENTAX Q the benefit of outstanding image quality and SLR features.
The PENTAX Q meets the expectations of consumers for whom compactness and ease of use are a priority, and who want a camera that can accompany them in every situation. Equipped with a 1/2.3-inch, 12.4 Megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, the PENTAX Q offers a host of advanced features, including ultra-compact Q-mount lenses, of which there will be five on the market from September.
The PENTAX Q is a rugged camera with exceptional performance, thanks in particular to its 5 fps burst rate, very low noise at high sensitivities up to ISO 6400, Full HD video with H.264 codec, 3″ 460,000-dot LCD with extra-wide 170° view, and magnesium alloy construction. In terms of practical functions, it offers several exposure modes, including all manual modes, including aperture priority and image customization. Like all PENTAX DSLRs, the PENTAX Q is equipped with sensor-shift stabilization and a sensor-cleaning system, enabling users to obtain sharp, high-quality, dust-free images. The PENTAX Q also offers tools for controlling Bokeh (background blur that detaches the subject from its surroundings) and a host of creative functions.
