ANA SEKULARAC / AH PRESENTATIONS 2011

Since 2007, Ana Sekularac has walked the catwalk in London. This is her first show in Paris. Perhaps it should be called a happening, given the unusual and theatrical nature of the presentation.

From scene to scene, she has entrusted models and dancers with the task of breathing life into her creations. Each of them will perform a precisely choreographed interpretation of 4 themes linked to femininity: Freedom, Sensuality, Strength and Love.
Painting after painting follows in Mathi’s very special den. The atmosphere is so ‘tenuous’ that nothing can distract attention, not even the subtle interpretation of the young violinist,

Each piece is a delicacy in itself. The silhouette is dynamic, refined, finely crafted and architectural. The dexterity is obvious. The interlacing of fabrics, the folds, all lighten the silhouette. It’s a juxtaposition of textiles worked in different ways (clichés 001, 004, 006, 009).

There, that white dress. An interlacing pattern enlivens her bodice, almost enchanting her. No sooner have we finished detailing the bust than the rest takes us by surprise. The bottom of the dress seems to be a playground. Ana Sekularac reveals herself there (cliché 004).
By choosing the same fabric, the designer manages to make it speak different languages. It’s all about nuance. There, folds with a cut and treatment allow the fabric to be almost hemmed in, as if in a provocation of space. There, it is arranged in volutes, creating surprising volumes.

What’s more, the designer’s talent lies in transcribing the famous feminine complexity. As is often the case in art, when the message is splendidly conveyed by the material, the result is a masterpiece.

This collection can be summed up as a mastery of textiles, cutting and design.
