Every September brings its share of hair promises, and David Mallett, an Australian hairdresser based in Paris since 2004, is no exception. Known for a deliberately natural approach to hairstyling — one that aims for a result that looks good long after leaving the salon rather than an effect on the day —, he offers this season a routine built around three treatments designed to repair the accumulated damage of sun, salt and chlorine.
The first step of this routine, Shampoo No.1 l’Hydratation, primarily targets dry, overworked hair. Formulated around macadamia nut oil, rich in palmitoleic acid, it promises to smooth the cuticle and preserve hydration without weighing down the fibre — a balance sought in particular by fine hair, often sacrificed by overly rich formulas designed for thick hair.

Next comes the Conditioning Mist, a leave-in treatment launched in March 2026, made up of 98% naturally derived ingredients, including inulin and a hydrating complex called Xylishine C. Its promise comes down to heat protection up to 200°C, an argument aimed directly at devotees of the daily blow-dry rather than at a clientele ready to give up the hairdryer in the name of natural care.

The trio closes with the Hair Serum #DM027, a finishing treatment based on Kahai oil, rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin E, designed to restore definition and shine while protecting colour. A more technical piece, meant to close the routine rather than be worn alone — a sign that Mallett is building here a complete system rather than a collection of interchangeable products.

This type of launch says a good deal about the place now occupied by the small Parisian salon turned international brand: between the confidential luxury of the appointment in the treatment room and the product logic that implies wider distribution. David Mallett, who built his reputation on the word of mouth of fashion editorial teams rather than on mass marketing, continues to play this card of avowed discretion — even if it means letting his formulas speak for him, one back-to-school season after another.
