Pequignet Adds 78 Diamonds to the Royale Paris for a Discreet Glacier Blue

The French manufacture declines its jewellery watch in a colourway designed for elegance rather than sparkle.

A new colourway, not a new watch

Manufacture Pequignet presents a new version of the Royale Paris 36 mm: the Bleu Glacier Sertie, its bezel lit up with 78 diamonds to enhance this new colourway. The move follows a logic of range extension rather than technical novelty: the case and movement remain those of the existing Royale Paris, only the colour-bezel combination changes.

According to the Maison, the softness of this hue, the delicacy of the diamonds and the elegant line of the Royale Paris come together in a discreet, refined watch, explicitly claiming discretion as its argument rather than the ostentation usually associated with diamond-set pieces.

Pequignet, a still-rare French manufacture

Founded in 1973 by Émile Pequignet, the manufacture has built itself an identity as an independent French watchmaking brand, a rare positioning in a sector largely dominated by Swiss groups. The Royale Paris, one of its emblematic lines, regularly offers diamond-set versions aimed at a female clientele seeking a jewellery watch rather than a pure timekeeping instrument.

This type of seasonal variation, common among mid-sized manufactures, renews attention to an existing model without the development costs of a new calibre or new case.

French manufactures facing Swiss competition

Pequignet belongs to a small number of French watchmaking manufactures still active, in a sector where Switzerland concentrates the vast majority of global production and renown. This rarity is both an asset for differentiation — being able to claim French craftsmanship in a market dominated by Swiss codes — and a commercial constraint, as the brand must build its reputation without benefiting from the momentum of the great Swiss watchmaking houses.

Diamond-set variations such as this Royale Paris Bleu Glacier feed into this differentiation strategy by betting on discreet elegance rather than technical demonstration, a positioning aimed at a clientele more attuned to aesthetics and the product’s French origin than to pure chronometric performance.

The 36 mm diameter, more modest than the men’s cases now common on the watch market, confirms that this Bleu Glacier Sertie version is aimed above all at a female clientele in search of a reasonably sized jewellery watch, rather than a piece designed to compete on complications or technical legibility.
