Seiko’s Presage Collection: A New Chapter in the Alliance of Japanese Craftsmanship and Watchmaking

Seiko, one of the pillars of Japanese watchmaking, enriches its Presage collection with a Classic series that draws on the richness of Japanese craftsmanship. Launched in 2016, the Presage collection has always been at the crossroads of Seiko’s mechanical watchmaking expertise and traditional Japanese aesthetics. The new Classic series is distinguished by the use of colors, materials and textures inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship, to celebrate the softness and subtlety of design from the Land of the Rising Sun.

The Classic series comprises five new creations, each embodying the spirit of Japanese beauty through dials inspired by the texture of silk, a material deeply rooted in Japanese culture. These curved, textured dials play with light to create exceptional depth and beauty, recalling the delicacy of natural textiles. The indexes and hands, curved to follow the shape of the dial, harmoniously complement this aesthetic.

The collection features two dial variations: one inspired by lustrous silk for the three-hand watches with date, and the other evoking raw silk thread for the open-heart models, highlighting the movement through a radially textured design.

These watches are powered by two recent Seiko 6R automatic movements, guaranteeing an impressive three-day power reserve. Visible through a transparent caseback, these movements illustrate Seiko’s watchmaking expertise, with a gold-plated oscillating weight for an extra touch of elegance.

In addition to their technical sophistication, these watches shine in design, featuring traditional Japanese colors such as shiro-iro, sensaicha, araigaki and sumi-iro. The softly curved case and domed sapphire crystal enhance the depth of the design, while the new multirow bracelet ensures optimum comfort on the wrist.

Available from June 2024 in Seiko boutiques and authorized retailers, these watches are priced from €990 to €1,230, offering a new way to appreciate the timeless beauty of Japan through watchmaking.
