Château du Moulin-à-Vent, revered in the wine world for its ability to produce exceptional wines, has just unveiled its latest creation: Les Terrasses du Château, a red wine embodying the quintessence of the Moulin-à-Vent AOC appellation. This wine is a celebration of the union between nature, with its specific, manganese-rich granite soils, and human know-how, which together shape a product of character and strong identity.

Raised in the heart of the granite terroirs and benefiting from the winds that blow through the region – essential for the health of the vineyard and the concentration of the berries – this cuvée is the result of an early hand-picked harvest, distinguished by unprecedented ripeness and concentration. Hand-picked and carefully sorted whole bunches bear witness to a meticulous approach that respects the fruit.

Gamay, the king of Beaujolais grapes, has been chosen to represent this singular terroir. The vines, a respectable 50 years old, promise a red wine with 13% alcohol, both powerful and elegant. A limited production of 60,000 bottles ensures that each cuvée receives the utmost attention, a promise of quality and exclusivity.

The bottling date of January 13, 2022 marks the beginning of the cuvée’s life in bottle, sealed with a Diam cork chosen for its reliability and contribution to preserving the wine’s organoleptic qualities. Planned to reach its peak between 2023 and 2027, this cuvée suggests significant ageing potential, offering enthusiasts the chance to witness the evolution of its complexity over time.

Aged entirely in stainless steel vats for a period of 17 months, the wine demonstrates our determination to preserve the purity of the fruit and the authentic expression of the Gamay grape. This approach also results in a wine characterized by freshness, liveliness and a fruity expression unaltered by wood.

Les Terrasses du Château is a testament to the estate’s philosophy, where every detail is taken into account, from the high planting density (10,000 vines per hectare) to an 18-day extraction period, to extract precisely the desired aromas, colors and structures. The result is a wine that expresses not only the character of its grape variety, but also the identity of its terroir.

This wine is a tribute to the region, revealing the richness of its soil and the strength of its heritage. Lovers of fine wines will be able to discover Les Terrasses du Château in a selection of specialist outlets or directly from the estate, an opportunity to purchase a bottle from one of the earliest harvests of the estate and the Moulin-à-Vent appellation.

With Les Terrasses du Château, the Château du Moulin-à-Vent offers a unique experience, rooted in tradition yet focused on innovation, to discover the subtleties of Gamay and the richness of Beaujolais soils. For further information, or for specific requests, the estate is at the disposal of professionals and enlightened wine-lovers alike, demonstrating its commitment to quality and excellence.
