Citrus quintet + tiare + sandalwood

City of Stars is a Cologne du Soir, a new innovation from Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, or how to convey the freshness of a Cologne and the aristocracy of a fragrance.  The radiance of citrus fruit carries the day’s sunshine away from the skin into a dazzling evening where anything is possible. City of Stars is an ode to the night, a feeling of freedom, a sensual tableau. It’s a more extroverted eau than its predecessors,” explains the Master Perfumer, “radically turned towards sparkle and that special atmosphere of a night in Los Angeles, when that unique setting sun gives way to city lights and those beams crossing the sky. It’s a luminous night. The light comes from the explosion of my citrus quintet. Blood orange, lemon, red mandarin, bergamot and lime. Marrying these different crackles, exalting their spontaneity in a melody that twirls, projects and caresses us. I wanted to work precisely on the pulp of the blood orange, the heart of this generous fragrance, a very particular fruitiness, a real note of pulp, delicious and optimistic. These citrus fruits come from Sicily and Calabria, and have the fiery sparkle of these sun-drenched regions. This burst of citrus illuminates my night, creating a paradox between light and shadow, like a tension soothed by a veil of tiare, the sweet scent of monoi. Sandalwood essence and a caress of powdery musk add sophistication to the fragrance. This magnetic alliance is my evening Cologne, continuing the night’s sensual exhale. So that we never leave each other.

The Maison Louis Vuitton and Alex Israel have initiated a beautiful, sincere, cultivated and unprecedented dialogue in the new saga of Parfums de Cologne. A leading figure in contemporary art joins forces with the learned poetry of a Master Perfumer.   From this deeply prolific back-and-forth, an exchange was born where the pictorial gesture meets the evanescence of scents. Since the beginning of this wonderful adventure, Alex Israel has shared his idealized vision of Los Angeles, a city saturated with incomparable colors, which he never ceases to try to tame in his works and make the eye travel. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud responds with a different chromatic palette, in which flowers and scents are as many nuances and nonsensical hues. And both invent a new painting. For City of Stars, artist Alex Israel goes one step further, creating an original work of art for this fragrance: an exclusive painting that becomes a rare garment and adorns the City of Stars case, as well as the travel case and the bottle-maker.
