For the 50th anniversary of the Renault 5, another 70s icon joins the party: PlayeR5, the retro-fit portable cassette player. With its new design inspired by the Renault 5 Prototype, PlayeR5 boasts yellow metallic bodywork, with a striped bumper motif and red tinted glass reminiscent of taillights. The player is equipped with Bluetooth for wireless listening, and a built-in microphone. Supplied with a blank cassette and a pencil for rewinding in case of
slippage – just like the good old days.
This revisited icon will be introduced to a new generation through influencer campaigns. PlayeR5 is already available for pre-order on Renault’s online store: The Originals, and will be on display at Atelier Renault, the brand’s famous flagship at 53 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Paris.
Renault PlayeR5 will be the subject of a unique collection of NFTs to be unveiled at the end of 2022.
