Sumptuous Anantara New York Palace Budapest joins the European portfolio of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas announces the addition of the Anantara New York Palace Budapest hotel to its portfolio, a first in Hungary that marks the continuation of the brand’s European expansion. Located in the heart of Budapest, one of Europe’s most unique and fascinating capitals, this opulent property is an architectural ode to the Belle Époque period, exuding old-world glamour blended with contemporary luxury.

Since its construction in 1894, the sumptuous building has served as a gathering place for Hungarian intellectuals and is located on the sophisticated boulevard Erzsébet Krt, on the east bank of the Danube. Designed by the famous Hungarian architect Alajos Hauszmann, the building reflects influences from Italian Renaissance, Baroque, Gothic and Art Nouveau.

Just 20 minutes from Budapest International Airport, the Anantara New York Palace features 185 rooms and suites, decorated with works of art and antiques dating back centuries. The two 135 m² presidential suites feature hand-crafted Murano glass chandeliers, custom furnishings, luxurious marble bathrooms and typical Italian design elements.

Currently in the process of transitioning to the Anantara brand, the Anantara New York Palace will feature a signature suite bringing together all the brand’s features in 2022. The first stage of the renovation will be completed in spring 2022 and will reveal a glamorous new lobby, elegant rooms and the addition of White Salon, a prestigious new restaurant serving typical Hungarian cuisine.

The hotel offers four different dining options: the New York Café, which, with its frescoed ceilings and Venetian glass chandeliers, is the beating heart of the property and reflects the passion and flair of chef Andras Wolf. The Poet Bar, an intimate setting for after-dinner drinks. The Deep Water Breakfast Room, for an exceptional start to the morning, and finally the Atrium, a dynamic meeting place with exceptional cocktails.

The Anantara New York Palace offers the perfect balance between a bustling business center and a luxurious discovery of the city. The extensive meeting and event facilities cater to all types of social and corporate functions, with an elegant ballroom accommodating up to 550 guests, small chic venues bathed in natural light, adorned with Baroque details and elegant conference centers designed by Iosa Ghini.

The Anantara spa will offer a true interlude of rest and pleasure, with four treatment rooms and relaxation facilities. When it opens in 2022, treatments will draw on the diverse healing philosophies of Anantara’s Thai roots, with elements inspired by Budapest’s spa heritage.

Thoughtful experiences will immerse guests in the region’s history with vintage VW Samba motorhome tours of the city and surrounding countryside, as well as romantic cruises on the Danube.

“We are delighted to announce the acquisition of our first property in Hungary, the Anantara New York Palace is a gem offering unique architecture, rich history and heritage. This majestic hotel is a strategic step in Anantara’s continued growth in Europe and represents an excellent addition to the brand’s portfolio,” commented Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, Anantara’s parent company.

Anantara New York Palace Budapest joins Anantara’s existing European portfolio – Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort, Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Marbella, and Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome.
