Merry Christmas at Bon Marché Rive Gauche
This year, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche is taking the phrase “Merry Christmas” literally, sprinkling each space with an infectiously cheerful treat. Aristide, the gingerbread man, takes care of this, as do the candy canes whose red and white swirls appear on every floor, cheerfully coloring the department store and its famous windows. To celebrate the festive season in every sense of the word, La Grande Epicerie de Paris teams went to the four corners of Europe to unearth an avalanche of exotic offerings. At Bon Marché, the multiplicity of exclusivities is matched only by a host of customization offers, each more cutting-edge than the last. Just like the Christmas gifts area, with its extraordinary selection designed for the “Magic Family” and lovers of leisure and travel. Lulled by the certainty of pleasing those you wish to pamper, gift-giving becomes a delightful stroll. This can begin on the 2nd floor, in the Christmas decorations area, where four gigantic Christmas trees are displayed. The first tells the story of a country Christmas, when Santa Claus makes his delivery by tractor, accompanied by farm animals, including a rooster, and woodland animals, including a fawn and an owl. A second tree stands beside him, covered in gingerbread men, candy canes and baskets filled with goodies. A third tree, like a world map decorated with panels bearing the names of the world’s metropolises, evokes Santa’s magical journey. Flying from one continent to another, he adopts its customs, in the Buddha position, ready to perform tricks on his snowboard, or abandoning his traditional sleigh for a yellow New York cab. Draped in shimmering colorful balls, a fourth tree transports us to a fairytale garden where the spirit of Fabergé eggs meets that of Indian motifs. This enchanting setting hosts a wide range of personalization options, from wreaths to socks and bags emblazoned with the first names or initials of their recipients. The chefs at La Grande Épicerie de Paris are particularly keen to make the festive season unforgettable. Cakes and Yule logs compete in textures and flavours, as does the galette des Rois. La Grande Épicerie de Paris’s collection of twenty Christmas products guarantees successful gift-giving. This ambition is shared by La Cave, which offers personalized gift boxes and bottles of champagne and whisky.
