Imagined by Sergio Zambon, the Men’s 2 Moncler 1952 Spring-Summer 2021 collection interweaves references: a universal invitation to contemplation from the peaks of the French Alps to the shores of Cape Cod. Moncler classics are reinterpreted this season in a clean and functional way, with warm touches of saffron, royal purple and malachite combined and mixed with soft neutrals such as off-white, taupe or light khaki. Subtle psychedelic nuances combine with Moncler’s innovative materials, as Homme 1952 ventures where forest (and mountain) meets sea.
Conjuring up the imagination of wide-open spaces near and far, this spring uniform embodies the archetypes of the neo-hippie, the hiker or the casual gardener. Inspired by the refined silhouette of cargo pants, drawstring shorts or flared “palazzo chinos”, the pieces are punctuated by mountain flower prints, alpine photos and the geographical coordinates of Moncler’s place of creation: Monestier-de-Clermont.
Ultra-resistant “ripstop” fabric creates a tone-on-tone play of protective transparency, while hooded anoraks and cargo pants with patch pockets create X-ray effects contrasting with the smooth, opaque textures of chambray and the characteristic shine of lacquered nylon.
In vertical quilting, a sleeveless cardigan and Mao collar jacket feature discreet zippers to create a minimalist, ultra-lightweight effect for spring. Some models also feature double-breasted snap buttons for layering. These conceptual solutions are combined with a fluid creativity found in apron shorts and gardening overalls, as well as retro square glasses, muslin bandanas and “lei” necklaces decorated with nylon rosettes.
The sense of humor characteristic of the Homme 2 Moncler 1952 collection is revealed in a series of sweaters with comic references to nature, such as the maxims “As You Wish, Jellyfish” and “What’s Cooking, Good Looking?” illustrated by cartoon creatures. Optimistic mantras such as “Maintain Serenity With Strength And Purpose” and “Promoting Access” accentuate the introspective spirit of the collection, while the accessories embody its dynamic spirit: from a mountaineering bag strap, to a drawstring bob, to nylon and suede hiking boots.
