The new max bill MEGA Solar from Junghans embodies this holistic approach. The sun, an inexhaustible source of energy, has inspired Junghans to create solar-powered watches since the 1980s. The max bill MEGA Solar continues this tradition of sustainability in a particularly aesthetic and coherent way. This timepiece combines innovative technologies with sustainable raw materials and the unique design of Bauhaus student Max Bill. Thanks to its titanium case, this watch is ultra-light, particularly robust, but also hypoallergenic. The vegetable-tanned leather strap is lined with Alcantara, a silky material with a velvety feel. The delicately rounded lines of the caseback follow the shape of the wrist, maximizing wearing comfort.
The watch also features Junghans’ brand-new radio-controlled movement, which guarantees maximum precision and very low power consumption: just eight minutes in the sun is enough for the watch to be operational again after a complete discharge. The movement also has a dark power reserve of up to three years. The perpetual calendar, automatic summer/winter time changeover and easy time zone adjustment using the crown or – worldwide – via time synchronization with the latest version of the Junghans MEGA application offer absolute comfort. Inspired by the long-standing collaboration with Max Bill, the watch’s design also respects the principle of sustainability. As a product designer, the Swiss artist saw his work as a means of “shaping the environment” and thus developed a minimalist design that was, is and always will be modern. Despite its totally uncluttered appearance, the dial is a real eye-catcher: Junghans developed a curved dial with a solar cell specially for the max bill MEGA Solar, which adapts perfectly to the shape of the watch. Natural materials, innovative technologies and sleek design: the max bill MEGA Solar boasts minimalist design and maximum durability.
