The Langlois-Chateau House, particularly renowned for its fine bubbly wines, also produces still wines from the most beautiful appellations of the Loire Valley.

Saumur-Champigny is an essential part of the range of this famous Loire House. The Latin origin of Champigny Campus Ignis (i.e. field of fire) owes its name to the sand that covers the limestone. At night, it gives back the heat of the long summer days.
This particular terroir has the scientific name of “alteration of sandy-limono-glaucous and micaceous chalk”. It dates from the middle Turonian period and is perfectly suited to Cabernet Franc. Langlois-Chateau’s vineyards cover 11 hectares located in 3 communes: Dampierre, Varrains and Chacé. This vineyard is managed according to the Terra Vitis charter (sustainable viticulture). In 2016, the Indian summer allowed the Cabernet-Franc grapes to be harvested at perfect maturity for the production of this cuvée. The harvest between October 17th and 21st is followed by a maceration during 18 to 26 days (depending on the vats) with more important pumping over at the beginning, in order not to extract too many tannins.
Domaine Langlois-Chateau’s 2016 Saumur-Champigny has a lovely, sparkling red color. On the nose, it reveals notes of crushed red fruits – strawberries. The greedy mouth, offers supple and silky tannins. Ideal with terrines and charcuterie, grilled skirt steaks or flank steak, Saumur-Champigny 2016 from Domaine Langlois-Chateau will also go wonderfully with soft cheeses. In summer, this elegant wine can be served at 14°, i.e. at cellar temperature, but above all not iced in order to preserve all its aromas.
The 2016 Saumur Champigny from Domaine Langlois-Chateau is available on the online store(www.la-boutique-langlois.fr) but also in many wine shops at an average retail price of 11.30 €.
