YAZBUKEY LAND OF GODDESSES SPRING SUMMER 18

For Yazbukey, the Land of the Goddesses is not just a way of life – it’s more like coming home.

For Spring/Summer 2018, the designer pays homage to her mother, an eminent Egyptologist with a perfect command of Arabic and hieroglyphics, who studied the various important diplomatic roles that emancipated women played in this highly advanced ancient civilization. One of Yazbukey’s favorite things to do is to sit among the ruins and meditate on how the women of ancient Egypt lived – those who enjoyed the same rights as men, held higher office and even ruled like Hatshepsut (appx 1500 BC) or Cleopatra (70 BC) – and became legends in their own time.

Yazbukey takes his mother to the Nile, revisiting relics in the Cairo museum and drawing inspiration from ancient symbols.

All these symbols and stories inspire this collection, from beachwear to fun accessories and clothing: lotus flowers, goddesses, cats, suns…

A vibrant tribute to antiquity.
