Designed by MB&F and manufactured by L’Epée 1839, Octopod stands or squats thanks to its eight articulated legs. In its completely transparent head, articulated like a traditional gimbaled marine chronometer, the creature’s brain is mysteriously suspended inside the sphere – the base of the movement is virtually invisible, thanks to a plate of anti-reflective treated glass. L’Epée has developed an entirely new movement for Octopod, with a rotating escapement placed on the minute hand.
After the HM7 Aquapod, our first aquatic watch, MB&F plunges once again into the marine world – but this time in partnership with a diving companion: MB&F and L’Epée 1839 present OCTOPOD.
Octopuses and other tentacled cephalopods, marine compasses, the bathysphere from the 1989 film The Abyss… all these elements inspired Octopod, embodied by 468 haute horlogerie components. A blend of contemporary design, kinetic sculpture and traditional watchmaking contained in a transparent bubble.
