After a multimillion-dollar renovation and 152 years since its creation, the Hôtel de la Paix becomes The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva.

The Ritz-Carlton and the Manz family announce the completion of renovations at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva, and the arrival of the legendary luxury hotel brand in Switzerland. The 152-year-old Hôtel de la Paix has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation and refurbishment, marking the beginning of a new era in the history of one of Geneva’s most elegant and iconic hotels.

Hotel de la Paix, Ritz Carlton

“With its storied past and unparalleled amenities, its cultural richness and gastronomic experiences, the Hôtel de la Paix is the ideal partner for The Ritz-Carlton, an ever-expanding brand that pays attention to the smallest details and offers exceptional service to guests around the world,” says Hervé Humler, CEO of The Ritz-Carlton, Bulgari and St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “I’m delighted to be able to offer Switzerland, the country where legendary hotelier César Ritz was born, a recognized quality of service and to establish our brand here.”

Situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, with a breathtaking view of the city’s famous jet d’eau and Mont Blanc in the background, the Hôtel de la Paix has been the benchmark of luxury in Geneva since its creation in 1865. It has also been at the crossroads of history, hosting numerous landmark meetings, including the International Peace Congress, and prestigious guests from all over the world, such as the Princely Family of Monaco and the famous American actor Orson Welles.

“We are delighted to be reopening the Hôtel de la Paix under The Ritz-Carlton brand,” explains the Manz family. “We chose The Ritz-Carlton as our operator because we are convinced that the experience gained in the luxury hotel business will help this exceptional establishment to remain one of Geneva’s finest luxury hotels.”

The renovation of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva, was designed to harmoniously combine modern design and functionality with respect for the hotel’s historic heritage. The newly restored public areas embody a concept imagined around art, time and nature, true symbols of the hotel’s location both on the shores of the lake and in the heart of the city of Geneva. In the corridors of the atrium, guests can admire a collection of tapestries depicting historical figures who fought for peace, from Giuseppe Garibaldi to Victor Hugo. The 74 rooms, including 14 magnificent suites, have been redecorated in a modern yet elegant style. Floor-to-ceiling windows bathe each room in natural light, while offering breathtaking views of Mont Blanc Square, Lake Geneva and the Jet d’Eau. The Grace Kelly Presidential Suite, in honor of the Princess of Monaco who was a regular guest at the hotel, with its sophisticated Art Deco style and gold leaf, is a veritable oasis of peace and elegance.

Paying homage to Geneva’s gastronomic heritage, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva, embraces the city’s cosmopolitan nature with two new culinary experiences. Inspired by chef Alessio Corda’s love of organic regional dishes, Fiskebar presents a new concept in Nordic fusion cuisine, a first for Geneva. Spread over four interconnected spaces, including a fresh fish buffet with banquettes, the restaurant is reminiscent of a traditional Scandinavian fish market. Its minimalist interior design is counterbalanced by natural materials such as wood and leather to create a Nordic ambience. The Living Room Bar & Kitchen offers non-stop service all day long, with regional dishes and flavors from around the world on a menu based on fresh, local and seasonal produce. The warm and inviting furnishings are enhanced by historic details and original features of the building, such as the walnut parquet flooring laid 150 years ago. In addition, Philippe Pascoët ‘s boutique offers homemade confectionery by this authentic, traditional Swiss master chocolatier. Upon arrival, guests can sample a free chocolate, indulge in the unique blends on the hot drinks menu, or purchase a box of handmade chocolates as a souvenir of their stay.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva has forged a reputation for hosting meetings and events that have made history, and is able to organize meetings and conferences in an elegant modular space for up to 100 people, with breathtaking lake views. This space can be separated into two separate rooms, each offering garden views and natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.

“It’s a real honor to bring all the experience gained by The Ritz-Carlton to Switzerland, here in an iconic luxury hotel that has witnessed so many major historical events,” comments Jenni Benzaquen, Vice President, Luxury Brands, Europe at Marriott International. “The Ritz-Carlton is proud to open a new chapter here in Geneva by instilling the legendary quality of service offered by the brand in this beautifully restored hotel.”
