GREY Jason Wu is the new “sister” collection to the Jason Wu line, born from his desire to dress his friends and inspired by their urban lifestyle. “I often look to my friends for inspiration, and I created this collection for women who are looking for clothes that are both well-designed, well-made, with a hint of whimsy and a sense of simplified chic that is appropriate for everyday life.”
GREY Jason Wu shares the femininity that emanates from the Jason Wu collection, but with a more relaxed attitude. Named after his favorite color, Jason wanted to create a collection of chic silhouettes with mischievous lines that represent his personality. “While the Jason Wu collection has evolved over the past few years, I found that there was also a place for a sister collection, one that speaks to women who want a wardrobe that is not defined by seasonality, that is neither too avant garde nor too wise. There’s a sense of relaxed sophistication, with thoughtful details, that are the foundation of GREY Jason Wu.”
There is also a collaborative aspect to GREY Jason Wu. “I’ve always loved the idea of partnership, and with GREY Jason Wu, I have the opportunity to work with some extremely talented people. For the first collaboration, Jason actually worked with artist Hunt Slonem. “I’ve translated his famous bunnies onto silk crepe, multicolored jacquard, or embroidered onto knit fabric. Hunt’s work is charming, full of life, and very clever – qualities that perfectly sum up GREY Jason Wu.”
The collection includes pieces that have been aged for a long time in fabrics designed especially for GREY Jason Wu in Italy and Japan.
The details become discreet signatures, such as the trompe l’oeil pockets, and the contrasting seams. The rich color palette, inspired by the colorful world of Hunt Slonem, includes navy blue, forest green and accents of tangerine or pale pink.
