The 8 finalists for the LVMH Young Fashion Creators Award were chosen by 41 international fashion experts following the presentation of their collections in Paris on March 2-3.
They are (in alphabetical order):
– Aalto, by Tuomas Merikoski (Finnish designer based in Paris). Women’s fashion presented in Paris.
– Alyx, by Matthew Williams (American designer based in New York). Women’s fashion presented in New York.
– Brandon Maxwell, by Brandon Maxwell (American designer based in New York). Women’s fashion presented in New York.
– Facetasm, by Hiromichi Ochiai (Tokyo-based Japanese designer). Women’s and men’s fashion presented in Tokyo.
– Koché, by Christelle Kocher (French designer based in Paris). Women’s and men’s fashion presented in Paris.
– Vejas, by Vejas Kruszewski (Canadian designer based in Toronto). Women’s and men’s fashion presented in New York.
– Wales Bonner, by Grace Wales Bonner (English designer based in London). Women’s and men’s fashion presented in London.
– Y/Project, by Glenn Martens (Belgian designer based in Paris). Women’s and men’s fashion presented in Paris.
Delphine Arnault comments: “With 3 Paris-based designers among the 8 finalists, this list reflects the vitality of the French scene and the capital’s attractiveness to foreign designers. Among them, Koché was a semi-finalist last year. I’m also delighted that a Japanese designer is joining this level of the competition for the first time. I wish all the finalists good luck. It’s going to be very difficult for the Jury to decide between all these talents on June 16. And I also congratulate the semi-finalists, whom I hope to see again in the months and years to come.”
These 8 designers will now be invited to meet the members of the Jury at the Fondation Louis Vuitton on June 16. The Jury will select the winner at the end of this exceptional day.
In addition, the Prix des Diplômés continues to accept applications until May 15, 2016. It offers three young fashion school graduates the chance to join the design studios of three LVMH Group companies for one year.Jury to select winner: June 16, 2016
