Passion. That’s the first word that comes to mind when you enter this lively, colorful boutique. Nestled in the heart of the Ternes district, at 52 rue des Acacias, Mon Eclair has it all, from its walls adorned with granolas and other sweet treats to its sleekly designed counter.
Here, there are no eclairs neatly arranged on display, just little pastries awaiting the customer’s eye. No. Here, the éclair breaks free from the mould. It is adorned with a thousand flavors, changes its creaminess as it pleases, and is enhanced with a subtly perfumed marshmallow. A veritable sculpture, delicately constructed before our admiring gaze. Free to change, to hesitate, to modify itself at the last moment at the whim of an indecisive word. Here, lightning bends to your whim. Before you, it doesn’t exist. After you, it no longer exists.
Airy, light as a cloud, it has a taste of home. We melt at the homemade filling: apple confit tatin with Tahitian vanilla, poached pear with spices or praline. We love the slightly crunchy texture of its gluten-free cabbage, made entirely from rice flour and corn. And, for a touch of the exotic, we opt for a passion marshmallow or a coconut meringue…
But this month, at Mon Eclair, it’s Valentine’s Day. For the occasion, an exclusive éclair has been created. The idea? To share. A pastry made to measure for each couple, a duo of flavors in the image of the lovers. Not only the taste, but also a personalized visual for each éclair. On the golden heart that completes the pastry, the lovers’ initials are engraved in real time.
Gregory Cohen, the entrepreneur behind this sweet creation, explains his concept with a play on words:
“We start with a passion base, then everyone chooses their own creaminess and toppings.”
Love beyond differences? A smile. The discussion resumes, focusing on the provenance of the products – of course all of natural origin, and carefully selected by the chef.
Suddenly, my gaze catches a detail.
“But the heart is scratched?
– Yes, because love is never simple.”
A little lesson in life: all it takes is a flash of lightning for poetry to take hold.
