From May 14 to 23, 2015, on the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival, Nespresso will be organizing the 2nd edition of the “Chefs Make Movies” dinners with Yves Camdeborde, Christophe Dufau & Florent Ladeyn. For this special concept combining gastronomy and cinema, Nespresso has invited these 3 great chefs to become the directors of exceptional dinners. Each chef will be inspired by a film that has marked the history of the Cannes Film Festival, and will devise a 5-course scenario to be enjoyed by 60 privileged guests in an original setting that echoes the film’s universe.

Yves Camdeborde (Le Comptoir du Relais Saint Germain, Paris) is inspired by Maurice Pialat’s “Sous le soleil de Satan”, winner of the Palme d’Or at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival. He confides: “It amused me to… have fun with this film! Not in a provocative way, but with lightness and mischief. So we play with words and with the religious universe. So I planned a curé soup, a poularde à la diable, a saint-pierre on fire, a religieuse… But each time, with surprises and daring. With a constant build-up. Just like in the movie.

Christophe Dufau (Les Bacchanales, Vence) makes his cinema inspired by “Le Monde du silence” by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Louis Malle, Palme d’Or at the 1956 Cannes Festival. “In this menu, I wanted to magnify my love of the sea, its fish, shellfish and crustaceans. But I also wanted to have fun winking at the film. I imagined, for example, lobsters drunk on coffee, like those divers drunk on the deep…”.

As for Florent Ladeyn (L’Auberge du Vert Mont, Boeschepe), he was inspired by François Truffaut’s “Les 400 coups”, winner of the 1959 Cannes Film Festival Directing Prize. “What I was looking for in this menu was to rediscover the connection with childhood and memories that you can have in the kitchen. To create emotions by recalling memories, reworking them, reinventing them, revisiting canteen dishes, for example, as a nod to our childhood…”.

To take part in these unique experiences, gourmets and cinephiles can try their luck by playing a game from April 20 on www.nespresso.com/cannes to win two stays in Cannes for 2 people (walking the steps, overnight stay in a Croisette palace and Les Chefs font leur cinéma gourmet dinner).
