While the prestigious Baselworld trade show is at its zenith, Gucci Montres has announced a partnership with the high-tech company i.am+, founded by Will.i.am, to launch a smart bracelet that is as futuristic and design-led as it is smartphone-independent.
The device will enable you to make calls, send messages and e-mails, listen to music, consult your calendar and diary, and use a voice-activated personal assistant. In this way, the concept takes on the features and capabilities of a smartphone, but in a more intimate position, as it is physically attached to the wrist.
Stéphane Linder, CEO of Gucci Montres, affirms his brand’s place as a forerunner in the sector: “Today, thanks to this innovative collaboration with i.am+ and will.i.am, Gucci Montres is fully focused on the future of wearable technology, with the objective of launching a device that would be a fashion accessory while integrating the most complete and advanced technological functionalities.”
As for Will.i.am, he described this collaboration as a cross between two worlds: “a device at the cutting edge of fashion and technology, we set out to define this category. I’ve coined the term “fashionology” – a fusion of the worlds of fashion and technology. “
For the moment, the price and launch date have not been announced, but the information alone is enough to arouse considerable curiosity. The iWatch seems to have a strong competitor…
