Camera in hand, we see the director arrive at the screening location from a distance. Dressed all in mauve, she takes a seat on the bench opposite us. And so begins a passionate exchange about cinema and Agnès Varda’s work throughout her career.

Released in 1962,“Cléo de 5 à 7” was selected twice for the Cannes Film Festival. First in competition in 1962, then 50 years later at Cannes Classics in a restored version. A magic wand for Agnès Varda: ” I’m a classic! Chic!”

Thanks to LVMH, the CNC and the Archives Françaises du film,“Cléo de 5 à 7” has been given a new lease of life. LVMH has reaffirmed its commitment to the arts and culture by participating in the restoration of the film. Having participated in the restoration, Agnès Varda is delighted with the remastered version of her film. She appreciates LVMH’s efforts to organize a private screening of the film.

Synopsis

Cléo de 5 à 7” is the story of a young singer who discovers, during an appointment with a fortune-teller, that she has cancer. From that moment on, Cléo continues to live her life with a lump in her stomach, right up until her appointment at the hospital to collect the results of her examination.
A complete immersion in the life of a woman of the 60s, between being and appearing, the fear of dying and the joy of living, surrounded by those she loves and rubs shoulders with on a daily basis.

You will soon be able to see“Cléo de 5 à 7” in selected cinemas in France.
But if you prefer, the film is available on DVD, Blu-ray and collector’s edition from FNAC for €30.
