Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, artistic directors of Kenzo and Americans based in New York, describe in this latest collection the Paris seen through their eyes, that of the Eiffel Tower, fly boats and so on. The new silhouette is dynamic, with elegant pants worn over loose-fitting, flowing pea coats and parkas, a reference to Parisians on scooters, as are the biker pants and shorts. Embroidery and photos of famous landmarks can be found on the back of a jacket, on a sweatshirt or all-over. Futuristic accessories (graphic bags and supersonic glasses), reminiscent of Cardin or Courrèges, are likely to be snapped up very quickly. Finally, the pastel color palette is a nod to the capital’s famous macaroons… Kenzo’s original, good-spirited ideas, which the two designers succeed in conveying through the wardrobe they create…
