One of the most eagerly awaited shows of fashion week, whether during ready-to-wear or menswear week, is the Saint Laurent Paris show. Always at the end of the calendar, in the evening, it brings a busy fashion marathon to a stylish close.
Since Hedi Slimane (formerly of Dior Homme) took over as Artistic Director from Stefano Pilati, it’s safe to say that the Saint Laurent style has changed radically. This is not the place to discuss the difference between before and after Slimane, but to appreciate the creations of this genius with a passion for music and photography.
With its high-tech scenography and deafening rock music, Hedi Slimane put on a show for the lucky guests at the Carreau du Temple. The models, often recruited from the world’s major cities such as New York, Paris, London and Los Angeles (where Slimane has set up his design studio), looked as if they’d stepped straight out of a rock concert, as if they’d said to themselves “a quick run down the Saint Laurent Paris catwalk and I’m off to play bass”. Perfecto, bangs, camel suede jacket, poncho – everything is reminiscent of pure American cowboy. We even caught a glimpse of camouflage print here and there.
Here, the American flag.
At last, THE bomber jacket you’d break your bank account for, and here it is.
