IKE , the collector’s edition of Calvados Boulard, is released in memory of General Eisenhower on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

This rare cuvée is made in honor of General Eisenhower, known by his nickname “Ike”, and the exchanges he had with Lucien and Rémi Boulard.

It will be unveiled to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day (the Normandy landings of June 6, 1944) and made available to a select few through an auction organized by Artcurial, in aid of World War II veterans.

Eisenhower and Calvados, what a story!

Since the Normandy landings, Lucien Boulard, the namesake of the famous Calvados brand, introduced General Eisenhower to this typical regional spirit, which he was able to appreciate during his stay in France. The discovery of the little-known qualities of this Calvados, and the comfort it often brought to the troops taking part in the Normandy landings, had a special resonance for the General, Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces in Operation Neptune.

In his memory, Maison Boulard, known and loved by General Eisenhower, will publish and auction an ultra-limited edition of a “Cuvée IKE”, specially created for June 6, 2014, the date of the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
