Paris Nord is a playground, a creative space that can be traversed, and which today can be worn. Paris Nord sees its collections of clothes – images, texts and so on – as a real vision of the place where we live. It seems logical to say today that Paris Nord is much more than just a geographical area. Paris Nord is raw, funny, mocking, provocative, young, demanding, multicultural and multifaceted. Paris Nord draws its inspiration from the neighborhoods that define it, and manufactures its products in France.
The first Sex Marcel and Fuckin Tourist series were inspired by Pigalle and Montmartre. This time, the new Paris Nord capsule highlights Père Lachaise. This will be followed by a number of other vignettes based on other neighborhoods that influence them: La Goutte D’or, Belleville, Avenue de Flandre, Strasbourg St-Denis…
“Père Lachaise” is inspired by the famous cemetery in northeastern Paris, this series uses the key words of a Requiem Mass. Depending on the words, the letters take different paths around the unchanging cross. The Latin words are inscribed on the black or white T-shirts & sweatshirts in two ways: flocked in retro luminescent material or tone-on-tone. Whether illuminated or simply evoked by a play of materials, the Latin expressions suggest the ghostly, spiritual aspect of the graves.
