On Saturday June 21, Maison Cornette de Saint Cyr will be auctioning off creations by the great names of haute couture, who transformed the female silhouette between 1940 and 1980. The collection will feature haute couture pieces (coats, suits and cocktail dresses) by Robert Piguet, Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balanciaga and Gianni Versace.
In particular, you’ll be able to admire and bid for a Dior cocktail dress from 1955, estimated at between €3,500 and €4,000. This black taffeta dress, with its shawl collar effect, boat neckline over a rounded notch underlining the bust, wrap-around bust embellished with two bows and very full skirt with open pleats over tulle and horsehair petticoats, is emblematic of the “New Look” style.
These magnificent models will be on display to the public on Friday and Saturday morning, prior to the auction.
